How to Maximize Sleep with a Newborn

.) Take turns with your husband on middle-of-the-night feedings and changings. It’s not perfect, but at least every other night you can be confident you’ll get uninterrupted sleep.

.) Have your baby’s crib in your room. Only having to go from the bed to the crib could help you fall asleep faster once the feeding or changing is complete.

.) Time your bedtime with your child’s. If he or she conks out at 8 for eight hours, maybe it’s time for you to follow suit!

.) Take a nap at the same time during the afternoon. You’ll quickly get used to this!

.) No coffee. This is tough, since you’ll be operating with less sleep than ever before, but that nighttime second wind will be less likely to kick in without caffeine.
