Easter is very late this year (April 24) but it’s never too early to begin preparing for the holiday and the arrival of the Easter Bunny! The long lead-up to Easter this year provides parents plenty of time to explain not only the religious origins of the holiday but also how the Easter Bunny and candy became synonymous with Easter. German settlers introduced the Easter Bunny to the United States in the 18th century, chocolate became a popular Easter treat in Europe in the 19th century and jelly beans and their egg-like shape became an Easter staple in America in the 1930s.
